If you’d like a written version of this, here are the my top tips on staying connected to fashion, finding my personal style and keeping up with trends:
Tip 1. A Place of Crowds/Crowded Locations
Crowded locations like airports and downtown areas are always great ways to find a new sense of style. You can always socialize at these locations and interact with other fashionable people to help stay on top on trends. People at airports dress very comfortable, and still look amazing as the same time. This idea also reminds me of River North Art District (RiNo), a very artsy place in Denver, Colorado. Rhino is a very vibrant location filled with paintings, graffiti, etc. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone to explore its beauty.
Keep an eye out on fashion looks on trains, street-style fashion, city celebrations, etc
Tip 2. Social Media/Bloggers/Website Inspiration
If you don’t follow any fashion bloggers or YouTubers on your social media, you are definitely missing out. Bloggers like Signed Blake, Monroe Steele, Kiitana, and Micah Gianneli always update us on the current trends and outfit ideas that can help us improve our personal styles. Follow these pages if you’d like. You wont regret it.
Pinterest and Google are great ways to search for trends as well, where you can look up “the top trendy outfits” for a list of stylish trends you can try as well.
Tip 3: Movies
The top movies that stood out to me were Legally Blonde and The Devil Wears Prada. Referring to the Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, she seemed very energetic and sweet. I loved the idea that she loved fashion and also loved another career path on top of that. she was an inspiring fashionista and a lawyer, who loved to express in her amazing outfits. Her chic fashion sense almost never goes out of style, which makes it pretty awesome to find more fashionable movies of that sort to elevate our own style.
Role Models/Celebrities
Rihanna and Lupita Nyong’o literally give me life when it comes to fashion. I always feel like they wear the dress, and not the other way around (you know what I mean?) These two definitely seem to know what what their personal styles are, but they aren’t afraid to try new things either. They always look so confident and fierce in whatever they wear.
Tip 5. Fashion Publication Websites
Check out Who What Wear (whowhatwear.com) and Shopstyle (shopstyle.com) for posts by several bloggers who adore fashion as much as you do. You can find some amazing styling tips through website like these.
Tip 6. Magazines
I adore Vogue and Essence, as they portray diversity in many ways. Magazines always have models showing new styles and giving out styling tips. n top of that, they are also worth checking out for perfumes samples and cutting out fashionable pieces for decorations.
Tip 8. In-Store Locations
I always like the idea of trying on outfits first and getting to know your body type and personal style before purchasing any outfit online. Although online stores have more options, it is important to get to know what your fashion sense is first before spending on items that might or might not work for you.
Retail stores such as H&M, Nordstrom, and Topshop are always great ideas. You get to discuss different outfits and styles with a sales advisor who has some knowledge on the items you consider buying, and that’s always a great way to determine what you like. I would also definitely recommend thrift stores.
Tip 8. Yourself
It always starts with you, although sometimes, with a little bit of inspiration. The beauty of fashion is having the chance to express yourself in outfits that speak for you without having to say a word. So, as you go out there to search for outfits ideas and tips, don’t be ashamed to be creative with what you find. It will help you stay as unique as you are.
